Brown Sugar Pork Chops

Updated: Oct 4, 2021

Brown Sugar Pork Chops are an easy and delicious dish, featuring seared pork chops baked in a simple garlic, butter, spices and brown sugar sauce!

PREP TIME: 10 minutes

COOK TIME: 25 minutes

TOTAL TIMES: 35 minutes

SERVINGS: 4

INGREDIENTS:

4 Bone-In or Boneless Pork Chops, approximately 1 inch thick

Salt and Pepper, to taste

2 teaspoons Extra-Virgin Olive Oil

3 tablespoons Butter

3 tablespoons Brown Sugar

2 teaspoons minced Garlic

1 teaspoon Italian Seasoning

Optional Garnish: chopped Chives (or parsley), Lemon Wedges

INSTRUCTIONS:

1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit. Pat pork chops dry with paper towels; lightly season BOTH sides with salt and pepper.

2. Heat olive oil on medium-high heat in a large skillet. Once oil is very hot (but not smoking), carefully add pork chops in one layer. They should sizzle when they hit the hot oil. Cook chops for 5-6 minutes, without moving them. Turn them over, and continue cooking the other side for 5 minutes. Transfer the pork chops to a platter, and cover with foil to keep them warm. DO NOT clean out the skillet.

3. Make the sauce: Melt butter on low heat using the same skillet. Add brown sugar, Italian seasoning, and minced garlic. Stir well, ad cook for 1 minute, stirring constantly, so the garlic doesn't burn. Add pork chops back into the skillet, and turn off the heat.

4. Spoon enough sauce over each pork chop to cover. Place skillet into 400 degree Fahrenheit oven and bake (uncovered) for 12-15 minutes. The pork is safely cooked once the chops reach an internal temperature of 145-160 degrees Fahrenheit. When done, they are ready to be served.

5. To serve. spoon pan sauce over pork chops, garnish with lemon wedges, chopped chives (or parsley) if desired. Serve chops on a bed of mashed potatoes, orzo pasta or egg noodles. Enjoy!
